I know! After approximately ten weeks of being photographed in the vicinity of Harry's Bar and (not nearly enough) UK Premieres, Georgia - or, as Vincent Browne insists on calling her, Georgina - has ended her dalliance with Calum Best.
A cynical sort *waves* might say one tired of not cracking the UK market with a dull tool, but the official story apparently goes thusly: he did the dirt with Byker Grove's Charlie Charlton.
The Belfast Telegraph reports: "Best - who, like his late father, has a reputation as a womaniser - was snapped returning to the home of TV host (really?) Donna Air late last Friday night. The only son of Northern Ireland and Manchester United football superstar George Best was spotted leaving a London nightclub over the weekend with DJ Air (32), before arriving back at her apartment. The two left trendy nightspot Mahiki in the mum-of-one's chauffeur-driven car at around 3am, with Calum trying to keep a low profile in the back seat. A pal has said Georgia is shocked at the revelations, but she was willing to 'work on their relationship'"... OOooooooh? The Belfast Telegraph must know something The Star, The Mirror and The Sun aren't aware of.
They're all reporting that Georgi(n)a's dumped Best 'cause she can't trust him. Now there's news. Speaking with The Sun, Georgi(n)a said: "Yes, it's all over. I am upset over it as we were a proper couple. He says nothng happened and wants to stay together but I can't trust him and that's definitely it. I saw the pictures with her and I would like to believe him that nothing happened but I don't want to be one of those girls who takes people back no matter what they do." You need to be a Wag or Hilary Clinton for that to happen, so no worries on either score.
The Sun reports that Best "left London club Mahiki at 3am on Friday night and walked down the road while Donna - who recently split from billionaire US beau John Dorrance IV - jumped into her chauffeur-driven mercedes. She then picked him up around the corner. Calum tried to hide in the back seat, but photographers snapped them laughing as they enetered her home. Calum's agent Erin McKee said: "Calum and Donna ahve been friends for ten years, there was a group of us at the party, absolutely nothing happened between them."
D'you know what, he could be telling the truth. I mean, if they were going to head back to hers for a spot of rutting, surely Calum - having been in this situation numerous times before - would have the foresight to get a bleedin' cab on his todd. Or with dutiful agent Erin to put photographers off the scent. Unless everyone involved is so starved of attention that they agreed to everthing in Erin's office beforehand.
As for Georgia, well she's going to get over things by focussing on work - she's just signed up to a London agency, wouldn't you know: "I'll get over it. I'm busy, I've signed up with a new agency in London called" something or other.
A final source reports: "While Donna put the scandal behind her (to run in the 5km charity race for Jeans for Genes as part of Team Donna Ida on Sunday) Calum has been in hiding since Friday and cancelled an appearance in a charity football match yesterday, saying: 'I am very sorry to say that due to a personal emergency I have to pull out of the charity football match today'."
Stay classy, Calum.
