Very sad news today as it has emerged that CNN's Anthony Bourdain has died by suicide.

CNN said in a statement today (Friday): "It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

The chef, author and TV personality was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning series 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown'.

His good friend Eric Ripert found him unresponsive in his hotel room on Friday morning with CNN confirming that Bourdain took his own life.

Anthony is survived by his daughter from his second marriage to Ottavia Busia while his current partner was Italian actress Asia Argento.
