24 hours ago, the world was waking up to the heartbreaking news that one of its legends had passed on. Since that moment, everyone has been posting thoughts, messages and memories via social media, listening to the vast back catalogue, re-watching and full realising the impact of his latest/last video, Lazarus, and generally mourning the loss of someone who was intrinsic in so many lives. 
The person feeling one of the greatest losses is obviously his wife Iman, who has been posting the following to her Instagram over the last few days. 
 

Stateside, Madonna posted an open letter, which reads: "David Bowie changed the course of my life forever. I never felt like I fit in growing up in Michigan. Like an oddball or a freak. I went to see him in concert at Cobo Arena in Detroit. It was the first concert I’d ever been too. I snuck out of the house with my girlfriend wearing a cape. We got caught after and I was grounded for the summer. I didn’t care. I already had many of his records and was so inspired by the way he played with gender confusion."

Brian Eno talked about his final email from Bowie, saying: "David’s death came as a complete surprise, as did nearly everything about him. I feel a huge gap now." Of the email, Eno said: "It was funny as always, and as surreal, looping through word games and allusions and all the usual stuff we did. It ended with this sentence: ‘Thank you for our good times, Brian. they will never rot.' And it was signed 'Dawn.' I realise now that he was saying goodbye."

This is obviously not even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the deluge of tributes to The White Duke, we could spend the whole morning adding all the heartfelt messages posted, but we'll leave things with the touching footage of Bowie fans singing Starman in his hometown of Brixton last night.
