German trance DJ Paul Van Dyk has been hospitalised after falling from 'an elevated festival stage' on Saturday night.
Van Dyk has been a stalwart of the trance scene for the last two decades and was performing at Dutch festival A State of Trance when the accident happened. The main stage was subsequently closed for the evening.
A statement released on his Facebook page read:
"Thank you for the overwhelming show of love and support for Paul. As you know there was an accident last night causing Paul to fall from an elevated festival stage. Paul is currently in the hospital. Further details about the cause of this accident or the injuries sustained by Paul are not yet available. We will post an update as soon as possible."
Festival founder Armin Van Buuren also posted a statement to his own page, reading:
"Tonight Paul van Dyk fell off the stage. He’s on his way to the hospital. He’s one of the heroes of A State of Trance Festival and that’s why we have closed the Mainstage. All of the other stages are open until 6 o’clock. As soon as we have more information, we will let you know."
It is not yet known how serious the 44-year-old's injuries are.
