Ring the bell, because it's Wiz Khalifa vs. Vanilla Ice in the matchup we've dubbed 'Battle of the Lads Who've Done Songs for Turtles Movies'.
Alright, we could have come up with a better title for the bout of the century, but we have no time because we're too excited about this being brilliant.
In case you missed it, Wiz Khalifa and about twelve other lads have come together to make the song for the latest Turtles movie, directed by Michael Bay and due out in September. Here it is for your listening pleasure.
Well, whatever your opinion on it is, it doesn't matter because the one man that has form in this area and can genuinely dole out advice on it is, of course, Vanilla Ice, and he's not a fan. In an interview with GQ magazine, he handed out a "diss" (as the kids say) to Juicy J, Wiz and Ty, saying that the song sounded "artificial" to him.
"With respect to all of the artists, the song doesn’t really do it for me, it feels a little artificial. What I mean by that is that it sounds like a bunch of executives in the corporate world put it together. It really does not fit the theme of the Ninja Turtles legend. I think you have to understand, and be a true Ninja, to possess the Magic to really pull off the secret sound."
Of course, Mr. Vanilla himself clearly possesses those skills, because if you don't remember (shame on you) the amazing track he produced for the Turtles movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze back in the day, then you're about to get schooled.
We think it should be pretty clear after hearing that particular tune that you need to take any attack on your Ninja Cred from Vanilla Ice very seriously indeed.
