Legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones is to receive a Lifetime Achievement award at this year's 2014 Silver Clef awards at a ceremony at the London Hilton Hotel on 4 July.

Jones, who celebrates his 74th birthday this Saturday, is set to receive the award in recognition of a career that has spanned five decades and began in January 1965 with UK number one single It's Not Unusual.

Perhaps known to younger audiences in recent years as a judge on The Voice, Jones also mounted something of a comeback with two critically acclaimed records- 2010's Praise and Blame and 2012's Spirit in the Room- both of which were produced by Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, KIngs of Leon, Paolo Nutini).

Founded in 1976, the Silver Clef awards raise funds for Nordoff Robbins, a charity which provides music therapy for adults and children. Before he picks up his Lifetime Achievement award, Jones has a date with Irish audiences, Live at the Marquee, Cork, on 19 June.
