It's one of the truisms of pop music that after a successful songwriting partnership breaks up, the individual parts are never nearly so effective on their own. As Crowded House, New Zealand's Finn brothers wrote their fair share of winsome classics. But their solo careers have signally failed to set the world alight and Tim's latest effort won't change that. Recorded in Nashville, the 11 songs here are heavily influenced by country-rock, mixed up with incongruous loops that only serve to highlight the weakness of the material. While the vigorous playing suggests that Finn had fun making this album, the results fail to pass any of that enthusiasm on to the listener.
