It's 25 years since heroin claimed the life of singer Tim Buckley, but his critical reputation is as high as it's ever been. Backed by music that drew on folk, psychedelic rock and progressive jazz influences, Buckley's voice was capable of tremendous emotional expression, ranging from tender tearfulness to anguished crooning. Like his son Jeff, whose own career was cut short by death in 1997, Tim Buckley was a distinctive talent whose memory deserves to be cherished.
