If you happened to catch The Who at Dublin's 3Arena the other night - a cracker of a gig, by all accounts - it may have been the last time you'll see them on Irish soil.
According to Pete Townshend, the band, who celebrated 50 years together in 2014, will not continue after their current world tour.
In an interview with Mojo, Townshend denied that the impending split was because of a rumoured feud between he and singer Roger Daltrey. "Roger and I were both so upset when the English newspapers decided that we were feuding – big headlines: 'Roger And Townshend Feuding'. Because it’s just not the case," he said.
He said that even though The Who will most likely call it a day this year, he and Daltrey will continue to collaborate, however. "I hope that one day I can write him an album of songs that suit him and the record company won’t demand that we call it the fucking Who, but I’ve got a bad feeling about it," he said. "I think that if I wrote Roger a bunch of good songs, our manager would say, ‘Why not call it The Who? We’ll sell double as many records!’"
