The offspring of rock stars frequently try to follow in their parents' footsteps but usually it all ends in tears. So there was no reason to expect that the two sons of illustrious songwriter Jimmy Webb would produce a brilliant debut album - but that's exactly what they've done. Every song here is a grand, theatrical epic with classical harmonies to give the production a late 60s feel. Pessimism is the order of the day however; most tracks concentrate on the gloomy feelings which so often come the morning after the party. A hymn of hate to hedonism, Maroon is a handsome and majestic record.
