At the annual BET Hip-Hop awards last night, Lil Wayne was honoured to receive the 'I Am Hip-Hop' award, and gave a very emotional acceptance speech.
The award, which is highly respected in the hip-hop community, saw other rappers such as 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar feature on a video with nothing but positive things to say about Lil Wayne, before DJ Khaled presented the award to the New Orleans rapper.
Joined on stage by his daughter Reginae Carter and mother Jacida Carter, Lil Wayne accepted the award by thanking "the people who refuse to stop supporting me." After his thank you's, Lil Wayne then went on to explain the extraordinary story of a man named "Uncle Bob", who saved his life when he was a child. The rapper received a standing ovation for his speech. You can watch the incredible story in the video below:
