Nigel Godrich, the longtime producer of Radiohead and collaborator of its frontman Thom Yorke in Atoms for Peace, played a stormtrooper in the new Star Wars movie, it has been revealed.
It seems that Godrich secured the cameo role - and a good story to tell around the dinner table for a long time, you'd imagine - through his friend, director Edgar Wright (who he's pictured with above).
Wright's association with the film is not known, but he tweeted that he got Godrich into the famous white stormtrooper suit as a favour:
@stereogum @nigelgod @starwars I am happy to say I got Nigel the gig. I owed him one and this was my return gift.

His role came to light after FourTet tweeted Godrich:
@nigelgod you were excellent in the film

@FourTet thanks man!

It sounds like the beginning of a legendary wind-up, but he is listed as 'FN-9330' on IMDB.
In any case, how's that new Radiohead album coming along, eh?
