An online petition protesting Kanye West's Glastonbury headline slot has already gathered almost 55,000 signatures at time of writing.

West was announced as a headliner of the world's most famous music festival the other day, but it hasn't gone down with some music fans.

One of them, Neil Lonsdale from King's Lynn in Norfolk, started the petition on Change.org, describing the rapper as "an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment," he wrote.

"Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music....he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving! Lets prevent this musical injustice now!" (sic)

It has since been revealed that Lonsdale has never been to Glastonbury himself, although he has a ticket for this year's festival.

The only other confirmed acts for the June 24th - 28th festival are Lionel Richie and Foo Fighters.
