Formerly the bassist with the Senseless Things, an undistinguished indie band from the early 90s, Morgan Nicholls shows plenty of invention on his first solo album. Put together with the help of various members of his family, it features a handful of tongue-in-cheek cod-mystic doodles as well as some rapping and beat group pastiches. Underpinning it all is an old Hammond organ which used to belong to Pete Townshend. All very inconsequential of course, but there's a quirky enthusiasm at play here which makes this record impossible to dislike.
