Without even a slightest hint of Irony, Hobotalk [essentially a lad called Marc Pilley] come on like the resident band from the film Desperado. I say without any irony, because Pilley, and the guys playing with him on the album, are from grimmest Scotland. Dunbar to be precise. Which make their more-Amercian0than-cherry-pie country twiddlings, not to mention the aforementioned's Stetson wearing antics on the cover, rather pathetic. But still, if you can keep your cynicism in check, Hobotalk have a good point - the singer's deep, earnest vocal style. But then again, if you can listen through an hour of slide guitar and foot-stomping, Nebraska style, you don't need me to condescend.
