The sad truth about Geri Halliwell is that her overwhelming desire to be a celebrity has always comfortably outweighed her actual talent. In the Spice Girls she was able to hide behind more gifted performers, but now that she's out on her own her limitations as a pop singer are painfully exposed. Scream If You Wanna Go Faster is an unmitigated disaster: Geri dutifully has a go at rock, reggae, disco and rap, all equally superficial, unconvincing and instantly forgettable. Her vocals are weak, the songs are formulaic and the album as a whole is a boring, irritating mess. On this evidence, Girl Power is badly in need of some new role models.
