Formal proceedings have been lodged against Aiken Promotions and Croke Park at the High Court today with the intention of preventing the possibility of ANY of the scheduled Garth Brooks concerts in Croke Park from taking place.
The injunctions have been lodged by local resident Brian Duff via his solicitor Anthony Fay, who also acts on the behalf of a number of Croke Park residents.
The aim of the action is to prevent any of the three licensed concerts from going ahead, as well as to rule out the possibility of the further two dates being rescheduled.
This latest turn comes after speculation that the promoters were seeking to have Garth Brooks play three dates this summer and follow that up with two further dates in 2015.
Meanwhile, Garth Brooks has announced details of a press conference to be live-streamed from his website on Thursday at 5pm Irish time. You can bet that the issue of the Croke Park concerts will be broached and it is also expected that Brooks will reveal details of a large scale world tour which, depending on the Croke Park debacle plays out, could feature no Irish dates whatsoever.
The first concert is due to take place on Friday 25th of July. Promoter Peter Aiken has intimated that a fully-clarified decision on this matter could be announced by Tuesday.
