This is that most depressing of records: a dud album from an old star which makes you wonder if he was ever any good in the first place. The soundtrack to a new Dreamworks animated film, it's filled with saccharine piano ballads which sound like leftovers from The Lion King. A glossy production only serves to underline the sheer half-heartedness of the songwriting. Add in Tim Rice's trademark banal lyrics and you've got an album which everybody can afford to be without
