Drummers, for all sorts of reasons, tend to have an awful lot of time on their hands. This is particularly true of the Rolling Stones sticksman Charlie Watts, who has long been more interested in jazz than rock and roll. This collaboration with the renowned LA session man Jim Keltner record is a collection of instrumentals largely made up of percussion and electronic beats, each named after a favourite jazz drummer. A labour of love for the likeable Watts, it's a surprisingly enjoyable listen and certainly far more adventurous than anything the 'world's greatest rock 'n' roll band' have done recently.
