Adam Levine of Maroon 5 was forced to prostrate himself before the almighty MTV yesterday after he mistakenly became outraged over the fact that Childish Gambino wasn't nominated in their annual Video Music Awards.

In a tweet that's since been deleted, Levine railed against MTV for supposedly not nominating 'This Is America' and said that "Childish Gambino released one of the most impactful, thought provoking and intelligent videos ever made."

"I’m sure he doesn’t care that he wasn’t nominated for a VMA because he’s cool as f*ck and everything. But I care. Because I’m NOT that cool. And I still want MTV to mean something again. But it won’t. Ever. K bye."

So, what's the actual story? Childish Gambino was, in fact, nominated for seven VMAs, including Video Of The Year. So, uh, yeah.

Levine took to Instagram where he explained himself further by saying that MTV blew off the music video for Maroon 5's 'Girls Like You', which he said came as no shock to him.

Here's that Instagram video. Here, if you're in an apologetic mood, can you apologise for that cover of 'Three Little Birds' because it was awful and singlehandedly ruined the World Cup?
