AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been in the news for all the wrong reasons over the last while - most notably for his recent conviction for threatening to murder a former employee and possession of meth and cannabis.
Rudd was sentenced to a period of eight months' home detention, and said at the time that he had had no contact from any of his former bandmates. "I'm very disappointed," he said at the time. "But, you know, that's life. I'm sure they're having a great old time I'm sure they're really enjoying playing. I'm sure it really sounds great."
Now, in a new interview with New Zealand TV news programme 3D, the drummer said that he intended to rejoin the band once his detention period was over - although he wasn't sure if he'd be welcomed back into the fold. "You don't want to act like something is happening and then look like a complete dickhead when it doesn't," he said.
"I'm going to be back. I've never been fitter; I've never felt better; I've never been psychologically or physically in better shape my whole life, and I love playing," he added. "I've realised who I am and what I can do and I just want a chance to go out there and show everyone who the man is. I'm the man."
He also spoke of the band's current stand-in drummer, Chris Slade, saying "He's a good drummer, mate. Chris Slade's a good drummer but I've got no idea what he's doing up there. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I got nothing against Chris. It's just he hasn't got a permanent job. I hope! That's all."
During the interview, Rudd also spoke about the incident that led to him making the threat to kill.
