American TV network ABC Family have commissioned a sitcom based on hip-hop star Nicki Minaj's life story.
Minaj was born Onika Maraj in Trinidad & Tobago, but grew up in Queens, New York. Her rise to fame has been deemed remarkable enough to be made into a sitcom, according to Deadline.
They report that the show, which has been in the works for almost a year, will focus on Minaj's adolescent years in Queens, with a younger actress playing her - although she'll make an appearance in some way, and will also act as executive producer.
It's allegedly being written by Kate Angelo (who wrote the films 'Sex Tape' and 'The Back Up Plan' and produced 'Will & Grace') and the pilot will be filmed this winter.
Minaj seems happy about the whole thing, judging by her Twitter feed yesterday:
I'll b writing raps for #YoungNicki to spit on TV 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 omg I can't f'ing wait yall
