If you're of a certain vintage, you'll remember 'Cheers' playing on repeat on RTE for years on end.

The dingy bar, everybody shouting 'Norm!', Ted Danson's amazing hair, Woody Harrelson being the affable chump we know and love, Kirstie Alley and Kelsey Grammer - it's all in there, and of course, the fantastic opening theme song that everyone's able to sing when they're about seven or eight pints deep with a unique kind of enthusiasm.

To put simply, 'Cheers' is iconic and that's the way it should stay. For Ted Danson, he's got another reason for 'Cheers' not coming back and it's... well, it's kind of sad. "It'd be a bunch of people in their 70s going, 'WHAT?'", Danson admitted, before going on to pitch a 'Cheers' spinoff set in a retirement home.

Now that's even sadder, in fairness. Here's the clip. Sam Malone, as effortlessly charming as ever.
