The English actor will play an as-yet-unknown role in the series, set to debut in 2021
There has been a lot of chatter about Amazon's forthcoming 'Lord of the Rings' miniseries (some of it relating to whether it's really necessary or not.)
However, it's happening and is due to air in 2021 - and now one of its leads has been cast.
Will Poulter, who is no stranger to a fantasy having starred in 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' in one of his earlier roles, will join Australian actress Markella Kavenagh. So far, they're the only two actors who have been cast.
The 26-year-old Poulter, of course, was most recently seen in Ari Aster's 'Midsommar'.
The series will be set in Middle-Earth thousands of years before the events in the famous trilogy, so their characters will be new to audiences.
Not much is known of the story as yet, although 'Star Trek 4' writers JD Payne and Patrick McKay will act as showrunners and J.A. Bayona (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) will direct the first two episodes.
As for who will join Poulter and Kavenagh in the cast? Watch this space.
