So word on the street is that Gwyneth Paltrow is being lined up to star in Julian Fellowes' new TV show. Yes, a NEW one, not Downton Abbey.
We heard a few days ago that she had reportedly asked for a Downton cameo, but now there's a rumour going around that she's actually Julian's top choice for his new American-based period drama, The Gilded Age, which is due to air next year. The Daily Mirror says a 'Downton' source told them that "Gwyneth is seen by Julian and his team as one of the best actresses in the world. They have loved her work in period dramas and know what she could bring to The Gilded Age".
Commissioned by NBC, Fellowe's latest offering will depict the rise of the USA as a superpower in the 19th century, following the lavish lives of pioneers in the railway, oil, hotel and shipping trades. "'I didn't want to just try and write another British series and go into competition with myself", Fellowes said previously.
Yep Julian, what with you killing off your main Downtonians, we can really see how that would be an issue now...
