In case you're not up on rugby, here's a quick explainer on who Peter Stringer is.

Peter Stringer joins this year's line-up of 'Dancing With The Stars', pairing him with professional dancer Ksenia Zsikhotska.

Stringer is best known for his incredible rugby career. Playing scrum half for Ireland, and spending 15 seasons with Munster, Stringer announced his retirement from the sport in June 2018.

On the pitch, Stringer was infamous for his ability to take down players almost twice his size, and was a formidable presence for Ireland and Munster. All told, Stringer played some 98 matches for the national team, and was part of Ireland's victory in the Triple Crown in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

Speaking at the line-up announcement, Stringer said that while he's never danced on a dance floor before, "going from that to dancing in front of a live audience will be a whole new experience for me. I’m nervous but up for the challenge!"
