The Simpsons went live last night for the very first time in what was also a first for an animated show. It was for three minutes at end of this week's episode and featured Homer Simpson taking calls from the public answering their questions, while some of our favourite characters from the cartoon dropped in.
It was announced earlier in the year that The Simpsons would be attempting to pull this off, with showrunner Al Jean saying; "As far as I know, this is the first time that's been done by any animated show. I just thought, 'wow, we have the technology... yeah, why not be the first, This is exactly why we still do the show, so we can do stuff like this."
Adding; "Dan Castellaneta (Homer) will be in the studio and not only what he says will go out live, but the motions he makes will be incorporated in what Homer does on screen".
