When CNN's Piers Morgan is busy/sick/abroad, who are you going to call to fill in for him? Friends star Matthew Perry of course.

"About a month ago, I got a call from [CNN president] Jeff Zucker asking me to guest host Piers Morgan Live. And I had two questions for him" Perry told the audience. "The first question was, 'How the hell did you get my number, Jeff?' And the second question, of course, was, 'Who's Piers Morgan?'. Once I got the answers, though... I thought this could be really fun."

The Go On actor stepped into Mr Morgan's shoes over the weekend when he guest-hosted Piers' primetime show, and rather fittingly took the helm for a debate on alcoholism and addiction. Perry's made no secret of his own personal battle, and appeared to be right at home discussing the issues.

However, you couldn't have Chandler Bing on the telly without some mention of Friends, so Perry called in his old pal Lisa Kudrow, and the pair revealed that they weren't actually ready to say goodbye to the sitcom when it ended.

"If I had a time machine, I'd like to go back to 2004 and not have stopped," Perry said. "If it were up to us, individually, I would keep going" Kudrow added. "It would have come a time anyway that someone would say, 'We've had enough', but why not have fun until we do?" We do agree, in a sense, but all good things must come to an end. Y'know, before they get dragged out for far too long. Here's looking at you How I Met Your Mother...

Anyway, Perry did a fine job filling in, and even took time to pay homage to Piers at the end of the show. "Thank you, Piers, for the opportunity", he said. "I love you. I love you. I love you so much. I love you, Piers Morgan. No, I'm not going to blow the kiss. We talked about that. I'm not going to blow the kiss. Okay? Let's just end the show."

Could this be the start of a whole new career for the artists formerly known as Chanandler Bong? Guess we'll just have to watch this space...
