If you're expecting 'Game of Thrones' in space, Martin wants you to think again.
Based on the 1980 novella of the same name, 'Nightflyers' follows "eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer — a ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain — in the hope of making contact with alien life."
"But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other — and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought."
If you're getting 'Event Horizon' vibes, that's pretty accurate. There's plenty of trademark Martin gore (and probably death) in the trailer
Starring a list of relative unknowns (aside from 'Boardwalk Empire' star Gretchen Mol), there's an Irish connection too in the shape of former 'Fair City' and 'Merlin' star Eoin Macken, and it's been shot right here in Ireland (Troy Studios in Limerick to be precise) so you've plenty of reasons to watch, if you can stomach it.
'Nightflyers' premieres on Syfy in the US and on Netflix everywhere else this autumn.
