We all know that, unfortunately, there are but 13 episodes of 'Game of Thrones' remaining for us to feast on before the TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series comes to an end. But we may not be leaving Westeros behind forever if Martin has anything to say about it.
In an interview with the cast and producers of the show backstage after their Emmy win last night, Martin explained that he has more than enough material in his back pocket for a prequel series.
A reporter asked the gathered Thrones team: "With the end of the show in sight, have you guys given any serious thought to doing any kind of prequel series?"
"Well, I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones," Martin said after showrunner David Benioff tagged him in to respond. "So there's a wealth of material there and I'm still writing more. At the moment we still have this show to finish and I still have two books to finish, so that's all speculation," Martin finished.
So there you have it. They may kill off everyone we know and love, but we could be getting a whole new series in the future, which could go either way really. Let's just let him finish this story first though.
