The long awaited three-part series Charlie arrived on our tellies last night, starring Aidan Gillen as the controversial political leader Charles Haughey. Although those tuning in (a whopping 724,000 of us) may have thought they were watching some sort of dream sequence from Love/Hate as there seemed to be an actor from that show at every turn, even Nidge and his killer were reunited on screen....
The first part of the drama was not short of criticism last night however, and as usual, Twitter was its harshest and most hilarious critic;
Hahaha HIPSTER NIDGE #Charlie

#Charlie It's like the cast of Love/Hate put on a panto and Pat Shortt supplied the wigs.

Aidan Gillen's performance of #Charlie is good fun, like he's channeling a young Mr Burns.

As for us? We kind of thought it seemed a bit like Scrap Saturday with Hans Zimmer doing the score, but look, it's early days. Two more weeks until the final verdict!
