As reported from yesterday, Hollywood is looking to remake Jem & The Holograms and give it a new spark of life to it. Not only that, Transformers is now entering it's fourth film and GI: Joe also has two films to its name. So why the interest in 80's and 90's cartoons? Whatever the reason, we love a bit of nostalgia. Here's our ten favourite cartoons from the 1980's...

10. M.A.S.K.

No joke - we had MASK pyjamas when we were kids. The show was very obviously a total rip-off of Transformers, but nevertheless, MASK was just fantastic. We wanted that robot that could turn into a motorbike.

9. BOULI

Trust us, we searched high and low for the Irish version of this on the Internet and we couldn't find it anywhere. We're guessing it's locked up in the vaults of RTE somewhere. To be honest, unless you were from the Gaeltacht or when to a Gaelige Scoile, this went right over your head. It certainly did for us, anyway. Still, what an intro. Fear an sneachta ban!

8. SHE-RA: THE PRINCESS OF POWER

What was it about the 1980's that made for powerful blondes? Seriously, you had Charlie's Angels and Farrah Fawcett, you had Dynasty and that whole gang and you had She-Ra.

7. CENTURIONS

Now this we loved. Their weapons were BEAMED down to them and they'd have these amazing fight sequences. The action figures - there were always action figures - clipped on the same way they did in the show. But you had to make your own sound effects when they clipped on.

6. BRAVESTARR

He had a talking horse. A WALKING, TALKING HORSE THAT HAD A MASSIVE SHOTGUN. THIS SHOW WAS AMAZING.

5. BABAR

We never understood how there was talking elephants who were royalty, but there were also humans as well. Still, what a lovely little show this was.

4. THUNDERCATS

We had the sword. It lit up. It was awesome.

3. CHIP 'N' DALE - RESCUE RANGERS

Did you know Chip 'N' Dale was based on Indiana Jones and Magnum PI? You do now. CHA-CHA-CHA-CHIP AND DALE!

2. DOGTANIAN AND THE MUSKEHOUNDS

We'd like to see the flow-chart where you went from Cocker Spaniels to French aristocracy. That's going to need to explaining.

1. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

When that guitar note hit, shit was going down. You'd run straight to the TV and park yourself in front of it for the next twenty minutes. Plus, we totally had the hots for April O' Neill. Those cream-yellow jumpsuits really did it for us. Bonus points if you know who the voice of Shredder was. Hint: He was an Uncle in a live-action TV show starring Will Smith. We're practically giving you the answer.
