Great news for everyone, in fairness
Time for some good news for those of us who like a bit of telly - Tommy Tiernan is staying on a little bit longer.
So, yes, everyone will be in good spirits with this news. According to sources, 'The Tommy Tiernan Show' will run for a longer fifth season because of popular demand.
Six more episodes of the series will be filmed in line with current restrictions, taking the current series up to 16 episodes.
The Saturday night show has been on the air since 2017, and has garnered huge praise. With Tommy not knowing who will be walking around that TV studio corner, it makes for such fascinating viewing as the host (sometimes) needs to ask his guest who they are. It all comes across as a genuine, wholesome TV show, and one of the best RTÉ has created in recent years.
So far this season, Tommy has been joined by such guests as Manchán Magan, Baz Ashmawy, Marian Keyes, Jess Kavanagh, Mary Coughlan, Zak Moradi, Brian O'Driscoll, and Brenda Fricker.
The Irish Daily Mail chatted with an RTÉ spokesperson, who said there was a lot of love for the show online: "It is a much loved show and the love on social media for it and Tommy every weekend is constant."
Before this announcement, there were only two more episodes left to air of 'The Tommy Tiernan Show'. Now, however, the series will end on April 17. Be sure to catch episode nine of the series this Saturday at 9.50 pm on RTÉ One.
