Daryl and Carol are getting their own spin-off series
In case you didn't already realise, AMC's 'The Walking Dead' is still a thing.
However, after 11 seasons under its belt by the time 2022 rolls around, 'The Walking Dead' will end. Being on the air since 2010, the dystopian zombie drama will call it a day after 12 years of flesh-eating zombies, zombies falling down wells, children zombies, zombies in a prison, and headless/limbless zombies.
The 11th season based on Robert Kirkman’s comics will have a bumper final season-ending, playing out on TV screens for two years and totalling 24 episodes.
But wait - the series is getting yet another spin-off. That's right, the fan-favourite characters of Daryl and Carol (which we're hoping will be the series' jackpot title), played by Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, have been given their own series following the events of season 11. The spin-off is expected to arrive in 2023.
Reedus and McBride's characters are the final two to be left standing all these years after the TV series first arrived on screens. Initially appearing as recurring characters, both eventually became series regulars with expanded storylines. Reedus' Daryl, in particular, became a bad-ass crossbow-wielding zombie killer in the early seasons, while McBride's Carol eventually came out of her shell to become a prominent female presence in the series.
Of course, this is not the first spin-off series to be created from 'The Walking Dead'. 'Fear The Walking Dead' was the first of many, having already teared through five seasons; there are apparently three spin-off movies revolving around Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes, who exited the main series in season nine; while a brand new TV series entitled 'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' is a new Amazon original, which will arrive this October.
The series looks at life as the world tries to get back to normality (while zombies still roam free). Here's the trailer for this new series.
