The limited series stars the Northern Irish actor
The first-look imagery of the mystery/thriller gives us our first glimpse of the Bafta-nominated star.
Set in the Australian outback, 'The Tourist' will see Jamie Dornan play "The Man", a British national who is searching for clues as to who he is.
This will be Jamie's first TV role since starring in the miniseries 'Death and Nightingales' in 2018. His most notable TV role of course is his role as Paul Spector opposite Gillian Anderson in 'The Fall'.
'The Tourist' is billed as a six-part thriller, created by Two Brothers Pictures' acclaimed writers Harry and Jack Williams. Both writers were executive producers on all 12 episodes of Phoebe Waller-Bridge's 'Fleabag', so that's a good indication of the standard we can expect here.
According to the BBC, who have collaborated with HBO Max for the production, the series will take a number of "shocking, surprising, funny and brutal turns".
Alongside Jamie in the cast will also be Australian actors Danielle Macdonald ('Dumplin’') and Shalom Brune-Franklin ('Line of Duty'), Icelandic actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson ('Trapped') and Alex Dimitriades ('Ghost Ship').
Damon Herriman ('Mindhunter') has also joined the series as Lachlan Rogers, replacing Hugo Weaving ('Lord of the Rings') who departed the production due to a scheduling conflict.
The official synopsis for the series is as follows: "Jamie Dornan stars as a British man who finds himself in the glowing red heart of the Australian outback, being pursued by a vast tank truck trying to drive him off the road. An epic cat and mouse chase unfolds and the man later wakes in hospital, hurt, but somehow alive. Except he has no idea who he is. With merciless figures from his past pursuing him, The Man’s search for answers propels him through the vast and unforgiving outback."
Expect 'The Tourist' with Jamie Dornan to arrive on our screens later this year.
