A daily newspaper office will be the new Dunder Mifflin
Well, now this is interesting news indeed.
Peacock has officially given the order for a new as-of-yet untitled comedy mockumentary series set in the same universe as 'The Office'. Our very own Domhnall Gleeson is set to take the lead alongside Sabrina Impacciatore, who you'll recognise from season two of 'The White Lotus'.
Greg Daniels, who developed the American version of 'The Office', is co-creator of the show alongside Michael Koman. Both serve as executive producers along with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who created the original British version of the series.
The official logline, per Variety, states: "The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters."
Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBCU Entertainment, said, "It's been more than ten years since the final episode of ‘The Office’ aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock. In partnership with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper.”
The new series will begin production in July.
