The series looks behind-the-scenes at how one of cinema's great masterpieces came to be
What do you do when you run out of ideas for movies? You produce movies (or series) that look behind the curtain at the making of them. Consider 'Being the Ricardos' about 'I Love Lucy', or 'Mank's contextualising of 'Citizen Kane'. 'The Offer' joins these and others in looking at the trying circumstances that led to a masterpiece.
Premiering on Paramount Plus, 'The Offer' examines the behind-the-scenes story of Francis Ford Coppola's 'The Godfather'.
It stars Miles Teller as Ruddy, Matthew Goode as legendary producer Robert Evans, Juno Temple as agent Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as real-life crime boss Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, Burn Gorman as industrialist Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks as business tycoon Barry Lapidus, and Patrick Gallo as author Mario Puzo.
Miles Teller replaced Armie Hammer as the lead of 'The Offer' following numerous sexual misconduct allegations against the 'Call Me By Your Name' star.
Dexter Fletcher of 'Rocketman' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' fame directs the first few episodes.
A film based on the making of 'The Godfather', titled 'Francis and the Godfather', with Oscar Isaac and Jake Gyllenhaal set to star, is also in the works.
'The Offer' is set to premiere on April 28, 2022, on Paramount+. A release date for Ireland and the UK is TBC.
