Bye bye Laura
Hello Maya Jama! Introducing the alleged new host of the hit reality romance show 'Love Island'. Over the weekend, The Sun announced that the presenter slash radio host slash DJ would likely be taking over from Ireland's own Laura Whitmore for the show's upcoming series.
Just over a month ago, Laura Whitmore announced her departure from the hit reality show, citing in an Instagram post that the reasons for her exit boiled down to format conflicts and scheduling issues, as she embarks on alternative projects.
Naturally, since her announcement, fans have been flat out trying to estimate who will take over Whitmore's reign as the next 'Love Island' presenter.
Among the viral predictions was fellow Irish woman Maura Higgins, along with reigning winner Ekin-Su — queen of the drama (in the best way possible).
Another hot guess was Maya Jama and based on reporting from The Sun over the weekend, it seems that those who guessed that the 'Glow Up' presenter would snag the position were pretty bang on.
According to the media outlet, Jama is in the midst of finalising her contracts with the bosses at ITV and claimed that she will appear as host of the upcoming winter season.
A source from ITV is cited as having said, "Maya was ITV’s dream option" and that "She is fun, beautiful and a brilliant presenter". We have absolutely no doubts that she'll bring fantastic new energy to the show, especially after the vitriol Whitmore was subjected to online over the course of her time on 'Love Island'.
Stay tuned for more 'Love Island' updates.
