Are we Ducks or what?
90s classic 'The Mighty Ducks' is getting rebooted - just like everything else is.
A TV series based on 'The Mighty Ducks' is being produced for Disney's streaming service Disney+. Plans for the show were announced early last year but word on the project was quiet for a while there.
According to Discussing Film, the series will focus on a 13-year-old boy who gets kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team. His mom is not happy about it. So she decides to start their own team, finding players, a coach, and a place to play.
The original 1992 film focused on reckless young lawyer Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) who after getting arrested for drunk driving, has to coach a kids hockey team for his community service. The movie had a sequel - 'D2: The Mighty Ducks' - in 1994.
There's no word yet on whether Estevez, Joshua Jackson or any of the original cast will appear.
Production is set for February to June 2020 in Vancouver. Thus it's won't be a part of the original content offered by Disney+ when the service launches in the US on November 12th, but will arrive on the service later.
Annoyingly, there's still no date for the launch of Disney+ in Ireland.
