Four day weekends are a gift from the Gods but they sure are exhausting. Some of you may have decided to use your time off to head away for the weekend, some of you may have been up to your neck in Easter Egg hunts, and even if you managed to do absolutely nothing and put your feet up for the weekend, you probably won't be tired enough to sleep tonight and will need something to watch.

Rest assured, there is a great night of TV ahead, so mind those weary, chocolate-filled souls of yours, put the kettle on, and get on that couch while also taking comfort in the knowledge that the next bank holiday weekend is a mere two weeks away.

Girls - Final Ever Episode
Sky Atlantic: 10.00pm

It's the final ever episode of Girls tonight, can you believe. After six seasons Lena Dunham is drawing a line under her groundbreaking TV series and we must prepare ourselves to say goodbye to the melodramas of these four New York ladies for good. Will Hannah walk off into the sunset to have her happily ever after? We'll just have to wait and see.

Broadchurch - Final Ever Episode
TV3: 10.00pm

It's the last and final episode of Chris Chibnall's crime drama set in a Dorset seaside town tonight, and the conclusion is set to be filled with a multitude of twist and turns, countless red herrings and numerous suspects with shaky alibis. However, the truth will finally be revealed as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller (David Tennant and Olivia Colman) finally untangle the web of deceit surrounding the rape of Trish Winterman (Julie Hesmondhalgh).

Guardians Of The Galaxy
BBC1: 8.30pm

For our money, one of the best films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and what with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 only a few weeks from our cinemas, this is the perfect time to sit down and take it all in. Chris Pratt, in arguably his break-out role, is Star-Lord - a thief and scoundrel who's forced to team up with a band of misfits that includes a talking tree, a genetically-modified raccoon, a super assassin and a muscle-bound widower who takes everything literally. With a cracking soundtrack of yacht rock favourites and some spectacularly staged sci-fi action, Guardians of the Galaxy is a blast. Watch it.

Tommy Tiernan: Out of the Whirlwind
3e: 10.00pm

It's a bank holiday Monday - if you're not already in the throws of the fear about work tomorrow, you know it's probably on the way. So do yourself a favour and take the edge off with some comedy gold from the legendary Tommy Tiernan in this special recorded at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in August 2016. Everything's going to be okay - Tommy's here now to laugh all your tired heads to sleep.

Tammy
RTE1: 9.35pm

Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon star in this road-movie about a burger joint waitress who decides to leave her life behind after being fired from her job and finding her husband in bed with her neighbour. However, with no cash and no car, she's forced to hitch a lift with her grandmother (Sarandon) who wants to see Niagra Falls.

Quantum of Solace
RTÉ 2: 9.00pm

Daniel Craig's second outing as the secret agent sees him on a mission to avenge the death of his girl Vesper, as he pursues the secret criminal organisation Quantum. Along the way though, he meets the head of an ecological corporation, who is plotting to orchestrate a coup in Bolivia to get his hands on a precious natural resource. Not as good a flick as Casino Royale was, but Daniel Craig still nails it as the 007 spy.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
BBC4: 10.00pm

Anyone who has read this book by Irish author John Boyne will know what they are getting themselves into here, but then it is pretty obvious that any movie set in Nazi Germany does not end well. It tells the story of Bruno, a boy who must move to the country with his parents when his father is placed in charge of a concentration camp. He goes exploring one day and meets another little boy, who in his mind, simply lives at the other side of a fence. The little lad quickly becomes the best of friends with this boy in the striped pyjamas, innocently oblivious to the true purpose of the camp where he lives.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
Sky Atlantic: 10.35pm

In a world without Jon Stewart's running commentary on politics, we now turn to John Oliver to accurately, and hilariously, summarise the terrifying ridiculousness of world events these days. In his talk show, broadcast on HBO last night and on Sky Atlantic tonight, he summed up how we were all feeling about Sean Spicer's Hitler comments last week, and also had a message for the voters of France ahead of their upcoming election.

Hunting the KGB Killers
Channel 4: 9.00pm

This fascinating documentary reveals remarkable details of the investigation into the murder of Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko in 2006. The inside story of this disturbing but gripping case, which saw Litvinenko killed by radioactive poison polonium 210, sparking an international manhunt that led to Vladimir Putin's Kremlin, has never been told in full before. The Scotland Yard detectives who led the enquiry and the doctors who fought to save Litvinenko's life reveal the political and diplomatic obstacles they were challenged with, and how the investigation followed a polonium trail left in London by two Russian FSB agents. Litvinenko’s wife Marina and son Anatoly are also interviewed.
