The feuding family are (nearly) back
The Roys and their devilish back-stabbing ways will return in the near future, with HBO announcing the next instalment has entered production.
We already knew that 'Succession' would return with season four - but is this the series' last? It's all quiet on that news front as of yet, but hey, at least we'll be getting at least one more season of the super-rich fighting with each-other.
Cast members Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun and J. Smith-Cameron are all returning for the next entry in the dramedy, which will be getting a 10-episode run at HBO.
The official Twitter account for 'Succession' tweeted the series had begun filming this week.
'Succession' was renewed for season four back in October, a couple of days after the third season's second episode aired. As we mentioned above, it's unknown yet how many seasons the series will spawn. Given its huge popularity though, HBO could stretch this out to five seasons.
Variety reports that some of the returning faces for next season include Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Justine Lupe, Scott Nicholson, Zoë Winters and Jeannie Berlin. Alexander Skarsgård, who appeared in season three, will be back once again.
The official synopsis for the next series is as follows: "In the 10-episode season four, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed."
Brian Cox previously said that he only sees the series getting a maximum of two more seasons, after which he's "done" with playing Logan Roy, the Roy family's patriarch: "I think it needs a couple more series before it really comes to a culmination. [...] I think people are going to want two more series, but they may only get one."
Expect more 'Succession' season four updates over the coming months. Watch the first three seasons via Sky Atlantic and NOW.
