The first season of 'Star Trek: Discovery' went down well, to say the least - and now, with Season 2 on the horizon and set to premiere next January, one of its most important roles has been cast.
Ethan Peck, the grandson of Gregory Peck and known for his roles in the likes of 'Gossip Girl', 'Madam Secretary' and the TV adaptation of '10 Things I Hate About You', will play Spock, the iconic role made famous by the late Leonard Nimoy in the original series, and later by Zachary Quinto in the recent movies.
Showrunner Alex Kurtzmann said: "We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning.
"Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to welcome him to the family.”
Leonard Nimoy's family are on board with the choice, at least...
