As we reported a couple of months ago, Amazon is now gearing up for an adaptation based on JRR Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings.

While it's early days yet and there's been no word on casting, there's been some speculation as to who'll be playing some of the original characters. For Ian McKellen, however, he says he isn't done playing Gandalf yet.

In an interview on Graham Norton's BBC Radio 2 show, Norton discussed the series and asked him about the possibility of someone else playing the iconic role - to which McKellen replied, "What do you mean, another Gandalf?"  When asked if he'd said yes to the role by Norton, McKellen said he hasn't "said yes because I haven't been asked," and pointed out that Gandalf is "over 7,000 years old, so I'm not too old."

It's not yet known exactly what shape the story will take in Amazon's series, but Deadline's report when the series was announced suggested that it would take place before Fellowship Of The Ring, which would easily pave the way for the likes of Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and anyone else from the original trilogy.

No release date has been set for the Amazon adaptation, but expect there to be some kind of news on casting pretty soon.
