If there was one ITV Drama that got people talking this year it was Broadchurch so as you can imagine we were rather skeptical when US TV bosses decided to remake the murder mystery. Then David Tennant signed up for it and we all heaved a sigh of relief.
Now there's even more exciting news from the production, with some pretty stellar actresses being cast alongside the Scottish drama don. As per Deadline, Detective Ellie Miller (who was portrayed by the utterly unfathomably talented Olivia Colman on this side of the Atlantic - see the below trailer for a taster) will be brought to life on US TV screens by none other than Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn.
The show, which has been renamed Gracepoint for US audiences, will also feature Silver Linings Playbook star and all-round acting legend Jacki Weaver. We're pretty delighted to hear that she'll be taking on the mantle of mysterious newcomer Susan Wright, y'know, the older wan with the dog and the rather threatening air about her? Here's hoping Jacki can hit the bar set by Pauline 'Birds Of A Feather' Quirke.
To add even more clout to the reboot, director James Strong (the man who brought us the pilot and multiple episodes of Broadchurch) has just jumped aboard to helm many of the show's episodes. And, rumour has it that they're not going to change a thing, keeping the plot exactly the same during the trans-Atlantic crossing. And there we were worrying they'd try and sex it up or something...
If you're going to bring a show to the USA you may as well do it with all guns blazing, right? Will they be able to do it justice though?
