Yesterday it was reported that George Clooney had been hospitalised following a motorbike accident on the Italian island of Sardinia, where he has been shooting a TV adaptation of 'Catch-22'.
Now, footage of the collision with a Mercedes car has emerged after roadside CCTV was leaked to Italian newspaper Corriere Della Serra.
It shows the car pulling into the wrong lane as it goes to make a turn, then apparently hesitate as the driver realises two mopeds are coming towards it. The first manages to swerve, but the second - driven by Clooney - hits it face-on and he is thrown off the bike and slams into the windshield. It's believed he was travelling around 60 mph at the time.
Thankfully, Clooney is said to be not seriously injured and has already been discharged and "is recovering at home", according to reps, while Italian police released a statement saying: "At 8.15am George Clooney was riding his scooter on the State Road 125 towards Olbia from Puntaldia. A car (a Mercedes E SW) did not respect the right of way and hit him. George Clooney fell and slammed the windshield of the Mercedes. They added: ‘The car driver called the 112, the emergency number of Carabinieri, and they sent the Municipal Police, an ambulance and the Fire Dept. MRI was negative, and he is not seriously injured. George Clooney has already been discharged and he stays well.’
