The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards saw a few firsts
As one Moira Rose once gloriously said when asked what her favourite season is: "Awards!"
That's right, the lovable Canadian comedy show tore through last night's virtual Emmys winners circle, coming out on top on all comedy categories they were nominated for. All four of the lead actors from 'Schitt's Creek' - Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Daniel Levy, and Annie Murphy - all received an award. The comedy series claimed nine of their 15 nominations.
It was HBO's limited series 'Watchmen' that came out on top on the night, winning a total of 11 Emmys, including best limited series. 'Sussession' also dominated, taking home the prize of best drama series, while Zendaya became the youngest Emmy winner at the age of 24 for her role in 'Euphoria'.
In terms of Irish talent, unfortunately Paul Mescal, Andrew Scott and Fiona Shaw were unsuccessful in being part of the winner's circle - but nevermind lads, there's always next year (and Mescal being nominated for an Emmy award for his debut role is still an incredible feat).
Here's a rundown of all the big Emmys winners list from last night's virtual awards, hosted by Jimy Kimmel.
