The show went ahead without a live studio audience last night.

While the UK had not yet introduced social distancing measures before last week's show, this week's show 'Saturday Night Takeaway' went to air - albeit without a live studio audience.

Given how much of the show is based around interaction with the audience, Ant & Dec did what they could to make the show without it and had their crew stand in for applause moments and the like. This week's show had much of the same moments, including an excellent 'Undercover' segment with Bradley Walsh that reportedly took three years to pull off.

However, the show's official Twitter account confirmed what most people suspected already - that the series will not be live for the remainder, and that last night's show was the last in front of an audience, or rather, not an audience at all.

Here's the tweet itself.

Of course, the efforts by the crew and the hosts themselves didn't go unnoticed by people watching at home, with the show's account and Ant & Dec's account flooded with well-wishers and thank yous for their efforts.
