Sacha Baron Cohen will receive the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy at the upcoming BAFTA awards.

The actor who has previously won two BAFTA's will receive the award on November 9th at the annual bash. The award rewards someone whose 'work and impact exemplifies the uniquely transcendent quality of excellent comedy' and the LA branch of the British Film and TV Academy felt that Baron Cohen did exactly that. Speaking about the award Chairman Gary Dartnell said 'Sacha's bravery and comic ingenuity is richly deserving of an honour that bears the name of Charlie Chaplin. We are delighted to be honouring him.'

Previous winners of the highly coveted award include Betty White, Ben Stiller and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. This years BAFTA's will also see Benedict Cumberbatch receive the Britannia award for British Artist of the Year. George Clooney, Kathryn Bigelow and Ben Kingsley will also be honoured at the awards.
