We were only delighted to hear that the BBC's brilliant period drama, Ripper Street, was getting a second series, and even more delighted to hear that the gang would be coming back to Ireland to film it. For those of you who don't know, most of Series 1 was shot here in Dublin, and the cast spent an awful lot of time in Clancy Barracks.
Well, now they're on their way back, with filming on Series 2 expected to start at the end of this month according to IFTN. Keep your eyes peeled, because you might just see the likes of Pride and Prejudice star Matthew Macfadyen wandering around town over the summer months. The gang are expected to be in the city until August 31st.
If you missed Series 1, now's a great time to start catching up on the action. Set in London in April 1889, the series picks up six months after the last 'Jack The Ripper' killing. In Whitechapel, H Division is charged with policing one and quarter square miles of East London. These are the mean that failed to find the Ripper, and can never forget it either. As more bodies begin to pile up on the streets, they can't help but wonder if the killer has returned. The series has even picked up a TV BAFTA nomination.
It's a fantastic drama, that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. And sure isn't it great to have it produced in our own back garden.
