Raymond Cusick, the man who designed the most iconic of all Doctor Who villains, has died at the age of 84. Cusick took screenwriter Terry Nation's idea for an out of this world race of super villains and brought them to life in the form of the daleks on the small screen.
His daughter Claire Heawood announced his passing, confirming that her father had been suffering from an illness and died peacefully in his sleep last Thursday night. His death comes in the year that Doctor Who celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
Mr Cusick is survived by his two daughters and seven grandchildren. RIP.
